We Couldn’t Leave Well Enough Alone………

  A few examples of US actions that have come back to haunt us……

Soviet War in Afghanistan:  Soviet Union supporting the Marxist/Leninist Afghan Gov’t vs. Afghan Mujahideen.

Scope:  Nine year conflict from Oct 31, 1979 to February 1989

International :  According to Brzezinski, CIA financial aid to the insurgents within Afghanistan was approved in July 1979, six months before the Soviet invasion, though after the Soviets were already covertly engaged there. Arms were sent after the formal invasion.

Iran/Iraq War:  Iraq invaded Iran by air and land on September 22, 1980 following a long history of border disputes and hoping to replace Iran as the dominant Persian Gulf State.

Scope:  Eight year conflict from September 22, 1980 to August 20, 1988

International:  US supported Iraq…more specifically Saddam Hussein, even as Saddam Hussein authorized the chemical attack on the Iraqi Kurdish town of Halabja in the waning days of the war against Iran.

   These are just two examples of US policy/intervention in Arab countries.   My hopes after becoming president include not just withdrawing troops from Arab countries, but closing down bases.  Our presence in their countries is what continues to fuel their hatred of America.  I will gladly still maintain contact with foreign governments in theMiddle East, but will not be willing to dictate their policy.   We have the best Navy in the world and it would be no problem to have a battle group rotate through that area for a 6 month stretch, but not set foot on land.  If only to maintain a presence to our allies.   I feel in coming years, that it will be our border that needs protecting from the South.

   I would also sternly state….that those persons, who wish to cause grievous harm to America or her people, be warned.  We have had many attempted attacks recently, including many from those who have immigrated here.  These attempts to attack from within must cease!!! 

   America’s safety is paramount….also job growth and the economy!!!  I will  work with Democrats and Republicans and Independants….we must work together!   Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
