Dear Readers,
Thanks to heredity, I have a pretty solid metabolism and a difficult time when trying to gain weight. Don’t hate me for that…it’s just the way it is. I went to the following website:http://www.cdc.gov/obesity/data/trends.html
It shows a disturbing trend, but how accurate is it? Over the years I have heard people scream about the bad food that McDonald’s serves, but never anything about Burger King, Arby’s or Dairy Queen…and pardon me, they taste good once in awhile. Hear me now. ONCE IN AWHILE.
Also, as a child, I was active. My generation came before computers, home video game systems and Face Book. Remember, we had PONG, which no matter what skill level you played; it was not worth sitting idle for more than 5 minutes.
Now, as for the last 20 years, children have learned they can sue their parents for getting spanked. I don’t believe in child abuse and usually speak up when I see someone forcibly dragging their child through a store, but the line should be drawn. Maybe we could initiate some lines; such as the “No Fly Zones” after the first Iraq war. In technical speak: The area just south of the torso and just above the femur, the round portion, may be spanked, not repeatedly and such as to not leave incriminating evidence…rather marks. I would never tell anyone how to raise their children, but would ask parents to take a more active role in their kids’ lives. I was a latch-key kid…and know more than ever that parents are working. I would tell children that the onus to becoming responsible adult ultimately falls to you. Take the best of your parents and create the best of yourself.
In addition....just want to add, Fats Domino sang great tunes, Minnesota Fats played some awesome billiards and even being spanked as a child, I turned out well....twitch twitch. Thanks again for reading and ever increasing the readership. Have a great day!
