Hello my readers,
A short synopsis of how job market works….or doesn’t.
Taking the housing market and introducing mass foreclosures:
Home prices drop and slower production of new homes = construction crews laid off ( including electricians, plumbers, painters and finishers ), lumber mills close due to no demand for wood for new homes, foresters ( lumber jacks ) laid off. Tip of the ice berg, so to speak.
Imagine all markets being affected. Terrifying. After I return from this deployment, I too will be “un-employed”. For the first time since I was 15…I will not be returning home to a job…yet. I am being pro-active. I will be sending out applications, and doing applications on line.
I feel worse for those folks that have been working one trade their whole life…..a construction worker would do well in retail. Painters can still work, but have to search for jobs. Unfortunately, not all jobs will roll easily into another field. People need to learn multiple skills now, and have needed to for the last 25 years.
$447,000,000,000 is a whole lot of money. Being touted as the Jobs Bill for 2011. It’s a good read…all 155 pages. If you read just the first two pages, you will see mostly Tax credits and Tax Cuts. The bill has some merit, but as of this writing, hasn’t passed the Senate.
Some of the jobs I am going to be looking into are ....1) Security ( Military background), 2) Federal ( Forest and field service ), and retail. Having worked in various fields over the last 26 years, I am certain my skills can be put to use.
I will post an amendment to this post when I have secured a job. I will be submitting my applications around December 2011 or January 2012. Keeping fingers crossed. There are more links at the bottom for assistance if you need it.
Have a great Wednesday....personally....I'm looking forward to Friday....my day off. Whew.
