Hard money, soft money and everything in between

Hello readers,

As many of you know, the 2012 election season is upon us…or has been for the last year or so; if you watch or listen to the news.  When some candidates, and incumbents raise more money for their campaign than some COUNTRIES have for any given year ( GNP )….then we have a problem, right?  What about CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM?

Campaign Finance Reform:  Campaign finance reform is the common term for the political effort in the United States to change the involvement of money in politics, primarily in political campaigns.

Even a relative “ nobody “ such as Herman Cain has amassed over 5 Million dollars for his campaign.

One thing that is a given during these upcoming elections is that candidates will be paying for ads; for both radio and television.  During these ads, very little is heard about what the candidates can do….or hope to do.  Only recently have candidates begun using free sites ( Youtube.com ) and such to get their word out….but is that enough?  Our incumbent president has amassed over 99 Million dollars….which is 8 Million dollars more than ALL other candidates ( including Republican, Democrat and Independent ) combined.  I have always imagined what would happen if all campaign funds, over 1 million dollars, went to food banks or local programs to help those in America.

In my blog, over the course of 4 years leading up to the 2016 election, you will read about me, my family and my hopes of what we need to accomplish to enable a better America.  Even though my campaign hasn’t gone “live” yet, I will hope to set my finance goal of less than $250,000…..which is currently half of what the LOWEST ranking candidate has received.  Maybe by 2013, when I retire and truly start meeting people and campaigning, I can hope to get out there with even less.

I would like to set a $250,000 limit for all political contributions ( per candidate ).  A goal such as that, is not likely to survive in Congress.

For any goal, as it pertains to politics, it seems that in order to achieve it we need to believe it, be united in it and voice it ( vote ).  Here’s hoping for truly positive change in 2016.

I skipped over a topic.....will post :" Immigration; legal or not: here I come " tomorrow.
